Mo Jiwon ( Resident Artist)

I’m a queer, Korean, artist of many mediums. I've been drawing ever since I can remember and at 15 I began learning mural making and welding. Since then I saw art as a vehicle to empower myself and others. One of my goals as a tattooer is to support others to embody and express their bodily autonomy and to love their bodies even more.
I was gifted a tattoo machine in 2010 and was inspired by a childhood friend to pursue tattooing. When I was 19, I decided to leave everything behind and traveled all over North America and Europe throughout most of my 20’s. Over the course of the last decade, I’ve been a full-time musician, carpenter, welder and blacksmith. I went to school for blacksmithing and fabrication in Austin, TX. Before that I learned carpentry in the Pacific Northwest.
In 2020 I was given another machine and I decided to pursue this craft and so happy that I did. In my free time I love to explore other mediums, go into the woods with my dog, among other things that recharge me with curiosity and inspiration.
Tattooing gives me so much joy. I hold value and respect for its ritualistic and indigenous origins. I love making original and unique designs for my clients and love to see their faces light up upon seeing their brand new piece of art on their body. I strive to prioritize providing a comfortable, consent-based (and hopefully fun) experience every time.
I'm inspired by texture, shadow and depth, deep contrast, black and grey, fine-line, realism, surrealism, abstract, portraiture, animals, plants, florals, bones, calligraphy, illustrative, details, engraver style, stippling, color, nuanced/muted color, black work, organic movement, ornamental and other unique aesthetics.
Books are open for projects and pieces of all sizes including large concepts for any part of the body and all bodies are welcome!
My commissions are also open for custom portraits, paintings and drawings.
