Hello!
I’m Mo -- a resident artist at Sugarwood Tattoo as of March 2024.
I’m a queer, Korean-American, multifaceted artist. I've been an artist ever since I can remember and as a teen I learned mural making and welding. I began to see art as a vehicle to empower myself and others. One of my goals as a tattooer is to support others embodying and expressing their bodily autonomy.
I got my first taste of tattooing 13 years ago when I was given a machine. At 19, I decided to leave everything behind to choose a nomadic life and traveled all over North America and Europe throughout the span of my 20’s. Over the course of the last decade, I was a travelling musician, carpenter, welder and blacksmith. I came full circle in 2020 when I was given another machine and I knew I had to pursue the art of tattooing again. These days I pour most of my energy into my tattoo craft. In my free time I love to explore my creative nature through other mediums, go into the woods with my dog, among other things that recharge me with curiosity and inspiration.
I absolutely love tattooing and hold value and respect for its ritualistic origins. It brings me so much joy to see clients’ faces light up when they see their brand new piece of art on their body. I genuinely enjoy each part of the creative process, including design.
I love making original designs for my clients and prioritize providing a comfortable and consent-based experience every time. Hopefully it’s as fun for you as it is for me!
I'm inspired by black and grey, shadow and depth, portraiture, plants, florals, dark, calligraphy and lettering, fine-line, realism, illustrative, small details, engraver style, stippling, abstract, surrealism, color, nuanced/muted color, black work, ornamental and other unique aesthetics.
Books are open for projects and pieces of all sizes including sleeve concepts and back pieces :)
I have lots of original work to look through and always open to collaborate and customize.
My commissions are also open for custom portraits, paintings and drawings.
